One person who is undoubtedly happy that the holidays are over is DMX.
The Yonkers rapper had a rough go at it as 2002 came to an end. On Christmas Eve he was arrested in Harrison, New York, for traffic charges, and on December 28, he attempted to enter Canada for a couple of concert dates, was detained by authorities at the border and later denied entry.
According to his spokesperson, X has put his legal team to work so he can successfully enter Canada in March for a short tour. Not only does he plan to make up the December performances he missed in Toronto and Montreal, but he'll also trek across the country for six more dates. No venues have been announced.
Before beginning his series of shows, DMX is scheduled to shoot his next film in February, which is being produced by the rapper's own Bloodline Films. While details are still being finalized, the project does have a title: "Never Die Alone." The film is a big-screen adaptation of a Donald Goines novel of the same name. The story centers around a drug dealer's rise to a cocaine kingpin.
"Cradle 2 the Grave," which stars X and Jet Li, hits theaters on February 28, and the soundtrack will drop on February 11. The video for that album's first single, "X Gon' Give It to Ya," was shot on December 13 and 14 in Los Angeles by director Joseph Kahn.
DMX's fifth solo album, It's Not a Game, is now slated to drop in May, and features appearances from such notables as 50 Cent and Cam'ron . The gruff MC is said to be only about four songs away from wrapping up production on the LP.
