Murphy, 28, told the New York Post that he didn't believe that it was a botched robbery, because his assailants didn't take any of his expensive jewelry. At the time of the assault, he donned an $18,000 diamond cross necklace and an $8,000 watch. 

Murphy said the attack was likely a message from unidentified adversaries. 

"Obviously, it was someone who knew who I was. If they just wanted to rob me, they would have taken my car, my $8,000 watch. He didn't ask for anything else. It doesn't make sense." He said he refused to give any of his gems and the shooter fired a 9mm bullet into each of his legs.

As a Murder Inc staffer, Murphy works directly with rappers Charli Baltimore and Cadillac Tah.

Recently, federal investigators have claimed that a movie, "Crime Partners," created by Murder Inc and a reputed Queens drug leader Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff was financed with funds generated in illegal drugs sales. Prosecutors also charge that the Murder Inc was funded with dirty cash, but haven't released supporting information. 

The feds also charge that McGriff had a hand in the 2000 shooting of 50 Cent, because the rapper named him in a rap song, "Ghetto Qu'ran."
