DJ Funkmaster Flex, who spins for Hot 97 in New York, pleaded guilty to a harassment charge in Manhattan Supreme Court on Tuesday and was sentenced to 35 hours of community service. Flex's case stemmed from an incident in September when he was arrested for allegedly punching and choking female radio host Steph Lova, who works for rival station Power 105.1. "The Kingpin," as the turntablist calls himself, was originally charged with misdemeanor third-degree assault, but had the charges dropped down as part of his plea. His troubles are not over, however Lova has also filed a multimillion-dollar civil suit, which is still pending. ...
Bono and opera legend Luciano Pavarotti will reprise their 1995 concert for Bosnian children with a May 27 show to benefit Iraqi civilians. The event will again take place in Modena, Italy. ... Travis Barker has recorded most of the drums for the new Blink-182 record. "Things are very different as far as sounds of drums, like, big, roomy, crazy parts," he said on the band's Web site. ... The Music Video Production Awards, which give props to video directors, technical people and video production companies, will take place on May 8 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. Among the nominees for this year's awards are Chris Robinson, who got five nods, including two in the R&B Video of the Year category for Brandy's "Full Moon" and Erykah Badu's "Love of My Life." David LaChapelle, who helmed Jennifer Lopez's current steamy clip, "I'm Glad," is also up more than once, getting nods for his work on Elton John's "Original Sin" and Christina Aguilera's "Dirrty." ... Testimony continued in the Tommy Lee wrongful death trial on Wednesday, with the mother of the drowned boy telling a Santa Monica, California, court that she thought her son was in good hands with his respective nannies. Good Charlotte are becoming Great Charlotte to animal-rights activists. The group has recruited PETA to hand out anti-vivisection and pro-vegetarian pamphlets to kids leaving the group's shows. They've also borrowed a van from a Minneapolis-area activist to hammer home their message. The vehicle, which will be manned by a PETA volunteer, is equipped with a screen on the side to broadcast footage of abused farm animals. ...

Vince Neil pleaded "no contest" via his attorney at the Beverly Hills Superior Court Monday in his misdemeanor battery charge stemming from an altercation with a record producer in April of last year. The judge ordered the Mötley Crüe singer to complete 100 hours of community service, pay restitution for punching Michael Schuman, complete a diversion program and go through a booking process. Neil had faced a maximum of six months in jail and a $2,000 fine. ...
Ricky Martin has set a May 20 release date for Las Almas del Silencio (meaning The Souls of Silence), his first Spanish-language album since 1998's Veulve. Venezuelan songwriter Franco de Vita, who wrote the title track to that album, also wrote the first single from the new LP, "Tal Vez" ("Perhaps"). ...
